Hamilton Firefighters are back at The Ultimate Women’s Show

Next weekend our Calendar guys will be heating up the stage at the Ultimate Women’s Show. This will be our final appearance for a long long time to come as we are putting the breaks on our Hamilton’s Hottest Firefighter Calendar. The show runs Friday May 4th to Sunday May 6th. Our guys will be featured in the daily fashion show, and back at our booth personalizing calendars one last time. We’ve also got a genuine Hamilton Firefighter Helmet for raffle. Charity Golf Classic Names Ronald McDonald House Main Benefactor

Hamilton Professional Firefighters Association Local 288 teams up with Ronald McDonald House Hamilton;

Every year, Ronald McDonald House Hamilton provides a home away from home for hundreds of families of seriously ill children who are receiving treatment at McMaster Children’s Hospital and other local hospitals. Sadly, due to limited space, they’re forced to turn away families in need every day. It breaks our hearts and we’re determined to do something about it. That’s why we’ve chosen to assist Ronald McDonald House Hamilton in expanding the House from 15 to 40 rooms. Please, help the Hamilton Professional Firefighters Assistance Fund make this goal a reality. We have made a $50,000 funding commitment to Ronald McDonald House Hamilton, making them our Charity Golf Classic benefactor for years to come. Several great sponsorship packages are available as are foursomes for the classic, which is Thursday May 24th at Glendale Golf and Country Club. Living Rock Soupfest

Hamilton Firefighters broke from their tried and true chili to create one of the events most talked about entrees. Although we were not officially allowed to compete for Soup Supremacy our top notch firehouse cooks concocted a magical medially of chipotle, chicken and corn that kept the crowd buzzing and returning for seconds and thirds. We served notice that we are for real and ready to compete against the many area restaurants that did battle at Soupfest. This day was not just about the soup; there was a goal and that was to raise much needed funds for Living Rock. “Living Rock offers over 20 services, 7 days a week for youth to connect into for personal support regardless of gender, religious beliefs, and ethnicity.” We continue to support Living Rock in their efforts to provide much needed support, stability and guidance to the City’s youth that will one day make up the backbone of our community. 2nd Annual Hamilton Firefighters Charity Ball A Huge Success

Taking the lead from last years rousing success this years Charity Ball exceeded all expectations raising over $15,000 for the Hamilton Firefighters Assistance Fund. This years theme was the nutrition and well being of children with donations of $2500 being presented to Franklin Road School Nutrition Program and Living Rock Breakfast Program. Inner City School Breakfast Program was once again a focus of the charity ball with a donation of $5000. Hamilton Professional Firefighters Association President Henry Watson wasn’t finished with the funding as he surprised most in attendance with a $50,000 funding announcement for Ronald McDonald House Hamilton. This money is dedicated to an executive suite in the new Ronald McDonald house being constructed next to McMaster Children’s Hospital. The executive suite is an innovative unit which allows the opportunity for those with out of town relatives and residents with extended families to be close together in times of need. This funding is a commitment over several years as Ronald McDonald House Hamilton has become the main benefactor of our Charity Golf Classic. Funds coming from our golf tournament will go directly toward completing our $50,000 commitment. We would like to thank all of those that were in attendance and of course all of our great sponsors. In two weeks time the Hamilton Professional Firefighters Association present their Second Annual Hamilton Firefighters Charity Ball. With the success of last years event this has been added to our annual lineup of charity fundraisers. This years Ball takes place on Saturday February 4th, at Marquis Gardens, and is once again a sell out. Our donations will be directed to breakfast and nutrition programs for Hamilton children. Several cheque presentations will take place and the benefactors include; Inner City School Breakfast Program, Franklin Road School Nutrition Program and Living Rock Breakfast Program. All three of these program provide much needed and sometime unavailable nourishment to Hamilton youth, providing a great nutritional start to the long day ahead. We are proud to partner with these organizations and to be in a position to assist with these incredible programs. Joining us this year as Celebrity MC’s are Corus morning show hosts Ben Mc Vie(Y108), Bill Kelly(CHML) and Shawna Whalen(Y108). Our Charity Ball is slowly turning into a must attend event with many thanks going to our generous sponsors and attendees. These requests will be reviewed monthly by our executive board. We’ve also consolidated our about, contact and beneficiary pages into one all encompassing page full of information about our Charity and our Assistance Fund.
